Another highly enjoyable video Joseph. About a car I knew very little about. Keep up the good work.😊
The only person who has crap, and weird taste in cars, is Ian Seabrook😂
I am afraid that he isn't the only one. Mr Charles and I both do as well.
I remember another reviewer pointing out that the Victor FE didn't really move the game on much from earlier models, especially the Victor FD, which my dad had, and was a much nicer looking car in my opinion, with design similarities to the smaller, but rather pretty Viva HB - my first car with a 1600cc overhead cam slant 4 engine.
Nice review and appropriate use of Roger Moores stunt double quip. Tremendous work.
The other oddity of the 1300 is that the starter ring gear is on the front of the crankshaft rather than the flywheel.
Sir! You’re really spoiling us! The FE Victor / VX series are 2 of my favourite 70s cars. We had a number in our family - my dad had an FE estate, then 2 VX estates. My uncle had a Ventora, then a 2300S - almost identical to this. It was quite a thing in the mid 70s - not many cars had cloth trim and a tape deck. I still love the looks - especially the VX series. The interiors were nice too - although the VX series were much better. That gear whine brings back memories………
I always thought that front end looked strikingly like the mk2 Granada 🤔
Had a R reg Bedford CF van with the 2300 slant four, used to go like stink.
My 1st car was a FD Victor, it was the 1600cc version (like mine) that had 3 speed column change and bench seat….I was a toolmaker so I had to get on the lathe and make new bushes to sort floppy gear change 😊 The 1.6 was 3 on the tree, 2.0 4 on the floor. LOL… (both half a V8 like the 1.8 n 2.3)
Your surname isn't Starmer is it ???????
@@robertallen3441 not me … ?
@@patrickh7368 Only Keir Starmer's father was a toolmaker.
@@Comfortzone99 never heard of him but there are millions of folk who are tool makers and so a bit random dude…. Guess you didn’t get out much or sumink , all the best… 😐
has same headlining as the cortina some what.
Yes, same as many cars of the era, I think.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting not every car of that era had same headlining as one another.
Greetings, Mr Lloyd. I remember the first FE Victors arriving at the Vauxhall dealers I worked at. Having loved the FD model I could not get used to the deep grill and a comeback of flutes in the bonnet which early Vauxhalls had. Having said that, I remember this limited edition model being a refreshing looking car which had some great goodies fitted as standard. We found little wrong with these cars, such a shame so many have gone. Any models, I see now are a delight to see. Many thanks for bringing back some great memories.
A great little shuffle and treasure hunt sir, i do have to say Mr Bill's Megane, and the DS were my favourites from this shuffle.
Mr Watters, sir, we have the DS coming up on the channel soon, as the video on it was completed yesterday!
@@lloydvehicleconsulting look forward to the DS review.
Still an elegant-looking car, and I actually knew someone who down on their income went from a Jag to one of these. Although if it had been say a Ford I doubt if their bean counters would have tolerated it flipping back and forth between FWD and RWD, but of course it was built with public money.
Yes, an interesting choice in re-engineering them so that they were "less complicated" between 1970, when the Toledo was launched, and 1973 when the 1500 TC came out. The re-engineering did indeed happen in the British Leyland years...
Enjoyed the video I walk the route over the viaduct and into Winchester quite often. I often drove the route in the 80s and they did a very good job restoring it. I have tried to find the railway bridge that the A33 went under near Compton but its quite hard to get to
Funnily enough, this video is not very good, but I did a better one two years later, looking at just the A333 Five Bridges Road, which does appear in this video as well. Maybe you would like to watch that as well? Yes, the old A33 railway bridge is almost impossible to see or access.
brill job
Thank you, sir!
Like your review the mg is fantastic value for money and all the tec as standard a great suv . The swift attitude is a very good looking very reliable and fun to drive little hatchback I owned a swift attitude for 5 years and loved it but ive recently exchanged it for a sz5 swift in speedy blue 🔵
I think I had completely forgotten I had filmed this back in 2019! It's not a great video, it was done in something of a hurry.... You can still buy a new ZS today with this engine and transmission (albeit a facelifted one), and the new generation Swift has just been launched. Once again, I think they are about the same price. I also drove a Swift Sport of this generation in 2022, and it was great!
treasure hunt ah mmm? even bac to the future car
Did you enjoy it, sir?
@@lloydvehicleconsulting yes
Thank you, sir!
Hot Garbage
The TVR S2 had the wrong mirrors too.
Did it really? Interesting...
@@lloydvehicleconsulting the S2 was a poor car, far better with an S3, better built, and the S4 was basically a Griffith underneath.
Think the Imp mirrors are off a Reliant Robin or Kitten.
Thank you very much indeed! I knew someone would be able to tell me.
Great car Joseph . have owned 3 Hondas a 2003 Accord a 1.8 Prelude and 1.6 Accord from 1983 . have a soft spot for Hondas
I would love to try a 1983 Accord and any of the Preludes! Thank you ever so much indeed for watching and commenting.
Hello , The road tax is a little high on these , did the gov change the tax rates as at one time there was a break around 2005 but now not ? When ever I see one about I think they look small now but they where a big car when they came out .
It's around 2007 for the tax cut off, as my 2.4 S40 doesn't suffer from it, but when I drove a C70 T5 from 2008, it was in the super tax bracket... They probably were a fairly large car at the time.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting I Cant seem to find that tax cut off now ( on gov car tax rates ), has it been abolished ?
Can't remember the exact date now, it must be between the two somewhere.
An excellent review as always Sir, I could see myself in a lovely Accord like this.
It seems to have turned out to be one of the best cars we have ever had on No Budget Reviews, doesn't it, Mr Watters?
Ran an 2003 2.4 Accord Executive Tourer for 12 years and 200k miles, great cars if you keep them maintained. Engine is strong and reliable, just not that refined at higher revs. Took family all over Europe and up to the Arctic Circle in it when it was over 150k miles and not a single issue.
They do seem to be one of the most reliable cars of their era, actually. They aren't problem free, and you do have to look after them, but they seem better than many other similar cars I have reviewed.
It's strange that they offered both the single and twin carb variants. One source said the single carb was HL only, another said you could also get a single carb HLS, so I am not sure quite what to believe, but I do know the Vanden Plas was twin carb only. Strange that the twin carb setup is far less reliable. Thank you very much once again for watching and commenting!
Thank you for this video! A friend indeed has one with beige leather interior! Very popular car in New Zealand.
We certainly do like a beige leather interior, don't we?
@@lloydvehicleconsulting It does have a nice feel. This friend is 88 so Accord people come in all shapes!
Enjoyed watching you do this. I have an Australian market 2006/7 Accord Euro Luxury, black with black leather, 17 inch wheels. Ride is pretty firm on bumpy roads. It was lowered with sports springs and a camber kit by the first owner. I bought it beginning of 2015, with 132,000kms. Now it’s done 279k. Beautiful car to drive, still nice and tight but needs good rubber to get the most out of the handling and road holding. Engine and gearbox are bulletproof when serviced regularly- with city driving, mine gets new oil and filter every 5k. Ancillaries like aircon and power steering not quite as bulletproof but my car has had a lot of use. Anyway thanks for the review- I agree that these are a very good value car
That is absolutely crazy! Getting on for 200,000 miles, isn't it. I am sure that it will just keep going if you look after it. I think that this is one of the best cars I have ever done on No Budget Reviews, and certainly one I would own myself, but I would need a beige leather interior... I think that I can excuse the air conditioning and power steering not always functioning completely after that sort of mileage!
I'd have this!❤
Sir, I think a lot of us would, wouldn't we?
Spoiler in black not standard.
Yes sir, you are probably right!
One of my fave cars all time to sell. Drive very well. 2.4 auto the pick. Always an Exec please. Always roof. Alloy design my favourite. Saloon over SW please.
Sir, we very much enjoyed ourselves... We always like the most luxurious specification, don't we?
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Total top or total base too. Thanks !!! No mid range riff raff please
It's all about the luxury, sir...
PS. I own a few classic cars at moment. And one of my friends has a 2200 princess auto . That i have 1st refusal on , if he decides to sell it. We often sell eachother car's in our group. I bought a 1972 triumph 2000 in orange/ off him recently i feel the triumph 2000/2500 is a underated car, that actually is a good alternative to a rover p6. That i also own
Well, if you ever fancy having any of your cars featured on the channel, my e-mail address appears on screen very early in the video! Never tried a Triumph 2000 myself, but have wanted to do so for years.
A very enjoyable shuffle sir, loved having a look round some of the steam and traction and some rather lovely looking cars on display as well.
It was something a bit different, Mr Watters, wasn't it? Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting!
Ah" thank you sir" this is a very agreeable example. I've owned several princess's and 2 ambassador's my favourite was a light green ambassador 2:0 HLS with elec front windows and power steering! It was a 83A reg: i owned from 89-91 then i sold it and the last time i saw it , in 93 it had a cab aerial on it at a mini cab office it even had a sticker in the window that said your, now traveling ambassador class! I ran a check, on it recently and it hasn't been taxed since 1994) i remember changing the twin carb's for a single carb set up, apart from that it was very reliable.
Lovely clean styling. Before the era of tortured sheet metal and Acura’s Horrible “Power Plenum “ design language. Known as the Acura TSX in the US. And finding one with a manual is a rarity. Much less flabby than the larger Accord we got over here
Yes, the UK market Accord was very different from the American one, and many of them were available with manuals. This was pretty special, they aren't that common over here any more. I can't imagine those Acuras were that common either.
This would be a very sensible purchase. Honda quality is evident throughout. I do find them a bit bland but I don't think that would stop me from owning one.
Yes, very nice to drive, a good quality car, if maybe not the most exciting to look at. I quite enjoyed driving this one...
Recently purchased a Accord 2006 touring 2.0 litre petrol . Fantastic car + Japanese Honda reliability. What's not to love .
Yes, I would have thought that it would be an excellent car for not a lot of money!
Never found the end point, was looking for Hamble Country Park, you were at Manor Farm Country Park......no worries, still have a nice run about in the old car.
It's a bit confusing, as it's technically called River Hamble Country Park, but I have always known it as Manor Farm Country Park, because Manor Farm is inside it. So, we are technically both right.... I did find locating the right car park a bit difficult.
Nice old motor. I had a, rough, Dolomite 1850. Very sturdy cars.
Well, I drove one of those in 2022!
I've had Envoy, GLS, CD, CDX and SRI.
Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting!
@@lloydvehicleconsulting The mk1-2 Mondeo Aspen and LX were very poorly insulated and noisy. All of the Vectra's were well padded and good motorway cruisers.
I drove a V6 Vectra B recently. They are very different from one of these...m
I remember these…tho I didn’t have one myself Built like a house and 2.4 VETEC = FAST. I remember the commercial that launched with this….about how smooth that other non petrol engine was supposed to be. Earth Dreams moniker….tho, that badge was also used on later petrol engines (I have one).
Yes, the engine is really good. The Earth Dreams badge is indeed a common thing to see on many petrol Hondas.
Clarkson was a tool for panning it. They're much better quality than a mk3 Mondeo, and much nicer to drive, sit in and look at than a mk2 Avensis 🤢
They aren't bad, really. My friend paid less than £1000 for it in 2018, and I think he still has it.
I'd get rid of that K&N garbage though, it's the only thing letting it down. Get a nice genuine Honda, Hegnst or Mahle.
Yes, I would probably keep it a bit more standard, but it is the owner's choice, of course.
Honda gearboxes can be some of the best out there. In my time, I've owned a Concerto, a Mk8 Civic and now I have a CR-Z hybrid. Very snickety and precise gear changes in all of them.
Who makes them?
@@user-sf7kl9uh7k I believe it might be Aisin, although I could be wrong. Absolutely love the slick and positive action on these boxes.
Aisin may well be the automatics, not sure about the manuals. Hondas are generally very good cars.
5th
Well done, sir!
A handsome car indeed, Mr Lloyd
Sir, I liked it very much!
Hello Joseph , They do drive a lot better with 16" wheels on you would find , also now a lot of young'uns like to take the engines of of these and put civic tyre-r heads on to the blocks and put em in EK , EP3 civics and make em go dead fast !
Oh yes, I think many of these have had to donate their engines, which is sad, I suppose... This is much more my type of car than an EP3 Type R.
Now that's a lovely car, a proper car, no electric/hybrid/lane departure/plastic fantastic mush, kudos sir 👍
We aim to please, sir! An extremely good quality car. It would need to be a facelifted one with a beige leather interior for me.
Great show! That Triumph Toledo would have been one of the last 2 door models if 1975. Love the Maxi and the Fiat 124 Spyder....roadster, or whatever it was called!
Yes sir, the Maxi and 124 Spider were excellent, weren't they? Thank you for watching, sir.
You didn't mention it, but I believe this model has the fully adjustable steering column - very rare then in a small car (carried over to the up-market Dolomites).
Yes, similar to a Jaguar Mark II from the same sort of era, I imagine,
Just gad my cooler and egr valve replaced £1200 ! Went to a few garages all said it needed replacing, tested old one that has been took off, nothing wrong with it. All it needed was some wd40 spraying on the connectors as there in a place where they get wet and dirty ! Also having problems with the radio, hdmi wont connect and tune in to most stations any ideas
That sounds like you have one of the older Tivolis. Sorry to hear that you have been experiencing all those issues!
